House developers must deliver as advertised

Housing developers who advertise their projects overseas are reminded to deliver on their promise so that the country's good image is not tarnished.

Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Senator T. Murugiah said failure by developers to honour their promise would make investors shy away from buying real estate in Malaysia.

Housing developers made all sorts of promises when advertising overseas but failed to deliver them after the properties had been bought," he told reporters after a meeting with Berjaya Times Square Condominium Owners and Tenants Association on Wednesday.

On complaints by Berjaya Times Square Condominium owners and tenants that the developer had failed to deliver as advertised by making structural changes, Murugiah said the relevant departments and agencies would be conducting a thorough investigation.

He added a meeting between the developer and residents would be held in Putrajaya after Chinese New Year to address the grouses. - Bernama
